How COSMIA Calculates Charts
COSMIA is analytical software. Every chart, number, and matrix in the app is derived from a deterministic, reproducible calculation on the data you provide. AI is used to interpret those results in plain language — it never generates or alters the underlying math.

Astrology — Swiss Ephemeris
Planetary positions, house cusps, and aspects are calculated from the Swiss Ephemeris — the same astronomical dataset used by professional astrology software. We use the tropical zodiac and the Placidus house system by default. Timezones are resolved from the historical IANA database using your birth location, and locations are geocoded to precise latitude and longitude.
Aspects support major and minor angles with configurable orbs, applying/separating status, and full essential dignity scoring (rulership, exaltation, detriment, fall, triplicity, term, face).
Numerology — Pythagorean System
COSMIA uses the Pythagorean numerology system, mapping A–I to 1–9, J–R to 1–9, and S–Z to 1–8. Core numbers we derive:
- Life Path — reduced sum of your full birth date.
- Destiny (Expression) — reduced sum of every letter in your full name.
- Soul Urge — reduced sum of the vowels in your full name.
- Personality — reduced sum of the consonants in your full name.
- Personal Year / Month / Day — cyclical numbers derived from the current calendar date and your birth day/month.
Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are preserved rather than reduced.
Destiny Matrix — 22-Arcana Method
The Destiny Matrix is a modern symbolic system based on the 22 Major Arcana. From your birth day, month, and year we compute the octogram: the four outer points (A, B, C, D), the center (E), the money and love lines, the sky mission, and the life-purpose / planetary purpose points. The seven 7.5-year life cycles are laid out on the same framework.
Every arcana is a symbol — an archetype for a theme in your life, not a literal event. The matrix is a map for reflection, not a schedule of what will happen.
AI — Interpretation Only
Once the deterministic engines produce a chart, numerology profile, or matrix, we pass those results (and only those results) to a large language model with strict instructions to interpret symbolically, hedge claims, and never predict specific outcomes. The AI never invents placements, numbers, or arcana — it can only interpret what the calculators produced.
Two people with the same birth data will always get the same underlying chart. Interpretations may vary in phrasing across sessions, but the math is stable.
